[edit] Christian Holstad (born 1972, California) is an artist based in New York.Using various media including drawing, sewing and knitting, video,performance and sculpture, Holstad recontextualizes the function of commonly found objects and imagery by means of challenging their widely accepted significance.He has shown internationally in various exhibitions including “Greater NewYork 2005” at P.S. 1 in New York, the 2004 Whitney Biennial in New York,“Beautiful Lies You Could Live In” at Victoria Miro Gallery in London,“Domestic Porn” at Foksal Foundation Gallery.Holstad is represented by Daniel Reich in New York and GalleriaMassimo De Carlo in Milan.Christian Holstad (ne en 1972 en Californie) vit et travaille à New York. En utilisant des techniques aussi variées que le dessin, la couture, le tricot, la vidéo, la performance et la sculpture, il recontextualise la fonction d'objets trouvés et d'imageries communes en excédant leur signification par trop partagée et intégrée.
